Peter Eide is a 22 year-old artist from Eden Prairie, Minnesota. He expressed an interest in drawing and painting at an early age, and began showing his work nationally at the age of 12. His work is displayed in collections both private and public; including Illinois Wesleyan College and Central Illinois Regional Airport. He attended the Perpich Center for the Arts Education and went on to receive his Bachelors of Fine Art, Cum Laude from the Maryland Institute College of Art. His latest body of work focuses on the abstraction of space and figures in interior settings, with an emphasis on the deterioration/fragmentation of narrative. Figures are draped in veils and bathed in heavy light to distort the hierarchy of the human form in traditional narrative settings. Through the removal of figure as the main subject, the various other objects contained in his interiors are able to take the stage and act independently of one another. He considers the work to be a departure of illustrated story, in order for the objects and the figures to behave as still lifes.
